PATIENTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH –
VIRTUAL 6-WEEK GROUP INTERVENTION FOR INSOMNIA

Virginia Commonwealth University / Massey Cancer Center / LiveNOW Lab

We are a research lab housed within VCU’s Massey Cancer Center, Division of Neuro-oncology and we are currently recruiting for a research project. If you are having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early, then you might be interested in our project. Participation involves:
    • Complete screening questionnaires to determine if you are eligible to continue in the study and provide informed consent.
    • If eligible, you will be asked to virtually attend 6 weekly meetings via Zoom where you will learn behavioral skills and strategies for improving your sleep in a small group of other participants with brain tumors.
    • You will be asked to answer a series of surveys online before and after the 6-week study.

There is no cost to participate in the study. We will be compensating you for your time.
No medications will be prescribed as part of this program. This study is not an overnight sleep evaluation (polysomnography). You will instead learn strategies to improve your sleep as part of a weekly, virtual, group intervention. If you are interested or have additional questions, please contact us at [email protected] or 804-828-6799. Thank you for your time and consideration!

It sounds great! It's good that no medications will be prescribed as part of this program. I would've enrolled myself in this intervention, but my insomnia problems ended some months ago. After I tried many medicines and visited different doctors, I almost let my hands down. However, a relative suggested changing my mattress and pillows. After she read some tips for better sleep, she found out these are common reasons that cause insomnia. I did what she said, and my sleeping schedule improved significantly. But I encourage everyone else with insomnia to participate in the program.
